Which areas cannot be treated with laser hair removal.
Any area that has a mucus membrane cannot be treated with laser hair removal. For example, inside the nose, close or on the anus, close or on the vagina, and any open wounds.
In addition, our laser hair removal technicians are not able to treat areas that have tattoos on them. Laser hair removal will not be able to differentiate the pigment in the hair and the pigment from the tattoo. Therefore, there is a high possibility of the tattoo and the surrounding tissue to be burned. Our technicians will try our best to get a close as possible without going over the tattoo during the laser hair removal session.
If a patient has recently suntanned via sun, sun lamp, or spray tan, then we may not be able to perform laser hair removal. The skin may be sensitive or the contrast between the skin and the hair may not be ideal which may lead to burning of the skin.
How do you prepare for laser hair removal?
Patients are recommended to shave the area they want to treat before their laser hair removal appointment. This will help make the appointment shorter and also help the laser hair removal equipment focus its energy on the root of the hair verses the shaft of the hair. Patients should not tweeze or wax 2 weeks before their laser hair removal treatment. Waxing and tweezing removes the root of the hair and the laser hair removal equipment will not have anything to target.
