An antioxidant is a substance that inhibits oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons or hydrogen from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions can produce free radicals. These radicals then reproduce more toxic cells. When the chain reactionoccurs in a cell, it can cause damage or death to the cell. This is extremely important in the health and look of our skin.
