PDO: For cheek lifting & jaw definition
PDO lifting is a specialized technique that uses FDA approved threads to lift tissue and improve skin texture. The procedure takes about an hour to perform and the results last up to two years. The procedure is provides positive lifting outcomes to the face without the need for surgery.
PDO: Suture Lifting
PDO uses threads that are extremely versatile and can be used all around the face and neck, typically for wrinkles on the forehead, sagging brows, drooping cheeks, sagging jawline and neck folds. Since it’s performed in under one hour with minimal breaks, this has become a favorite with people favoring non-surgical procedures as this lift is created using your body’s own collagen.
How does a PDO: Suture Threading procedure work?
Using a very fine acupuncture needle, the FDA approved threads made of polydioxanone (PDO) are injected into the skin and muscle with the goal to tighten the skin. The PDO threads have a powerful dual effect. The first is to give an immediate lifting effect and the second is to stimulate your bodies own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic Acid.
Placement of PDO threads with fine acupuncture needles stimulate the body’s fibroblasts to migrate towards the treated area. Once the fibroblasts arrive, they detect the dissolving PDO threads and neocollagenesis occurs and collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production begins. Over the next 6-7 months mature collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid is produced. This results in skin that is thicker and more elastic.
When PDO threads are placed into the skin in a criss-crossing weave, a scaffold effect is created which helps to “hold” the skin against the effects of gravity. This mesh of threads can also shape the face by lifting and supporting sagging structures. The threads are absorbable and over 6-7 months time, nothing is left behind but the lattice of skin, collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid lattice created by your own body. This lattice continues to hold for another 18-24 months.
How are the PDO threads inserted?
Absorbable thread lift procedure takes 30 minutes to an hour (depending on treatment area/size). Anesthetic cream is applied to treatment area followed by an insertion of safe and dissolvable threads under the skin. After the procedure, mild swelling for a few days is common. Because there are no cuts or incision required, there is no scarring.
Is the treatment painful?
We look to manage treatment discomfort as much as possible and use special creams that dramatically reduce the pain of injections. In addition we use anesthetics injected locally and full or partial nerve blocks. Most patients don’t consider it to be a painful treatment however we do advise patients that it may be uncomfortable.
How long does a PDO thread-lift work?
Results will continue to improve and can last 2-3 years as your own body produces collagen, elastin and hyaluronic Acid. Some treatment areas will see results immediately, other areas take up to 2-3 months with full benefits at around the 6 month mark. The results may last 2-3 years.
What’s are some potential complications?
The threads cause a very mild reaction with some patients experiencing some swelling and bruising as a result of the injections. Bruising is normally light but occasionally severe. Your healthcare provider may advise you to plan and time your treatment around your schedule to provide some rest.
