How does it work?
A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. This process can improve the appearance of fine lines, lighten acne scars, and dark spots (hyperpigmentation).
Which peel grade do I need?
Chemical peels are customized to the individual's type of skin. Patients with lighter skin types generally have shorter treatment programs. If you have darker skin, chemical peel treatments program are longer and may be a little less aggressive.
How long does it last?
The course of treatment is typically 45 minutes and over the next two to five days, the top layer of skin will slough off. You will see new skin immediately appear more radiant and fresh.
Does it hurt?
During the treatment, you may feel tingling and sensations similar to a natural sun burn.
Who is the right candidate for a chemical peel?
Anyone looking to improve the appearance of their skin can be a good candidate. Chemical peels are customized to the individual's type of skin. Common skin challenges that chemical peels may treat
Acne is one the most challenging and common skin problems for adults and young adults. Hormonal fluctuations and stress can cause lower areas of the face to be affected. The effects on young adults are more widespread and may affect the entire face area. It is important to choose and customize products based on your age and your skin conditions. Every person ages differently and your chemical peel treatment plan should be tailored to your skin.
Wrinkles and aging skin. Everyone ages and with age our skin can lose it's elasticity and it's skin tone can become poor. Gravity, repetitive gestures, and life long exposure to the sun are all causes of premature aging skin. While we cannot stop the aging process, we can be proactive about taking care of our skin. Wearing sunscreen and avoiding excessive exposure to the sun are just some ways we can be proactive. If you are looking for a more aggressive approach, then a peel treatment plan may be right for you.
Dark and age spots. Dark and age spots occur when our bodies have an overproduction of melanin. This may be because of over exposure to the sun, hormone replacement therapy, pregnancy, or even simple skin irritation. Dark and age spots often require monthly or bimonthly peels in combination with proper compliance in order to resolve the skin challenge.
