Excessive Sweating

Botox for excessive sweating

Perspiration is a normal and healthy biological function of the human body.  The human body has approximately 2-4 million sweat glands that are activated when your body heats up and need to cool off. Excessive sweating occurs when patients find themselves changing clothing frequently due to sweating or use absorbent pads to reduce the signs of over perspiration. Although deodorant may help, patients with true excessive sweating challenges may find that deodorant and anti perspiration products will not help.

How does the treatment work?

Botox Cosmetic is injected into the target area in order to temporarily block the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. Although sweating from these glands are inhibited,  other areas that are not treated will continue to produce enough sweat for normal biological function.

How much Botox will I need?

The amount of medication that is needed will vary from patient to patient. However, patient's can expect about 80 -100 units.

How long will the results last?

Patients can expect results to last anywhere from 5 - 9 months.
